Hostetter Award

The KAFP-Foundation Hostetter Award was initiated in 2006 and is intended to honor senior medical students who have promoted the values of family medicine throughout their medical school career. It is named after Dr. Philip Hostetter, a family physician in Manhattan for many years. He was a World War II veteran, and wrote a book about his experiences in WWII. He enjoyed photography and was generous with sharing his photographs with KAFP. He supported KAFP and the Foundation for years, serving as the Academy president in 1975. Dr. Hostetter died in 2005, leaving a share of his estate to the KAFP-Foundation, allowing the Foundation to develop this award in his memory.
